Tortoise

Dunno why I'm suddenly into this cute little tortoise. Hehe... I juz bought this little tortoise purse (left) yesterday to hold my camera. The one on the right is a massager which was bought a few weeks back. I think it is so cute. Anyway, I also bought MAC concealer and a pair of slippers yesterday. Trying to cut down on my purchases alr and buying more of necessities, although some ppl will disagree and say those are still luxuries. prob I have a high standard of living bah. Haha...

I just got back from my dentist. It's so crowded that I registered my name, ran some errands (draw $$$ and pay my Citibank bill), came bk to rest awhile before going down again. Yeah I got clean teeth now. Haha... Gonna take a nap now and TRY to go for a run in the evening. Someone has been nagging at me to run, run, run. I know it's so unhealthy to sit in office whole week and not exercise at all. MT also asked if wanna go to our office gym's tmr. But sometimes, or rather most times, I'm too lazy to exercise. Help! I dun wanna turn into a big fat pig...

Farewell to Director & fellow colleagues

Yesterday, it was celebration for the Director's farewell. Think she's gonna retire alr. We threw a surprise party for her. She was so touched that she cried during her farewell speech...

Director is the third from left. She's my newfound idol! She holds herself with so much poise and exudes charm. At the age of 40-odd, she's alr a director of Financial Services Department. I wonder if I could be like her at that age. They said she started out as a small clerk and worked her way up. She certainly knows how to dress up and takes care of her image. I think she looks so wonderful at that age and looking at her younger photos of the slide show which they made for her, she's the type who ages ever so gracefully.

Me and Mei Tyng - The one whom I can clique with best cos we are same age.

After work, it was our own celebration at Waraku. One colleagus is moving to another dept while another is leaving as his contract has ended. We bought a crumpler bag for him. So good lor... Got treat and expensive bag some more. The dinner came up to $400 over. Haiz... I'm super broke lor. Must start avoiding such events liao...

Casio EX-Z80

I have gotten myself a new camera! And it's 8.1 mega pixels. Haha... Best of all, it's Free Of Charge! Why? Cos I got a rich sugardaddy lor. Haha... Kidding lah. My mom has quite a number of Taka vouchers so we bought a DVD player and this camera. Yeah so happy... No need to carry my bro's bulky and super heavy camera around anymore. I can bring this camera as and when I like alr. I think it's my most hasty purchase. Didn't even try or anything and just told the person to give me a new piece. I only couldn't decide on the color, was choosing between silver and hot pink. Then the person showed me this metallic pink which was in-between so I took it in the end. Actually, I wanted to buy a Sony camera where you could slide down the lens cover in front but most Sony cameras were sold out. I guess this Casio is not too bad either, it's the one where TV used to advertise can detect faces automatically. Another strike off my wishlist. Haha...

The following pics are taken at Kushinbo with my new camera.
My all time favorite Salmon. They always taste so fresh and tender. Yummy... There were more food photos actually. But stupid me haven't really learn how to use the camera and I accidentally deleted them.

Wanted to head to the beach yesterday afternoon but the weather was opposing. We ended up at Changi Airport T3 instead. I was so tired that I collapsed right after I got home and bathed...

Something is wrong with my phone now though. The ringing tone is so soft even though I have set the volume at the highest. Haha... My next purchase shall be a brand new phone :p

Work hard to get converted

Been working late the last few days. First time I heard the system announcing "The lights are going to dim in 10 mins. If you wish to continue working, please press...". On one night, my manager said that she's so happy that for the first time she's going bk earlier than me. On another nite, she was chasing me home. Every quarter, around the third week, there will be bulk trades. This is where I'll be extremely busy as volume is high. And with counterparty (like Carisse's co) who asked whether I'll still be around at 7pm (cos they need to lias with their New York team before reverting bk to me) , how can I go back early? I told them I'll definitely be around, in fact till later timing.

But most surprising of all, I'm not even complaining. For the first time in my life, I'm actually beginning to enjoy work. I used to put off going to work (those stupid temp assignments lor). Nowadays, I find myself actually looking forward more to work than the weekends. Yup, my next goal shall be the title of this entry. Mentor told me that they are pushing for me to be converted (cos they wan me to work on public holi which I dun mind cos can claim a day's leave and you only need to go in for like half a day). They said most likely should be able to convert even before my 1 year contract is up.

Got the feeling of being in a real working world where your time seems so limited. Lunch time has become a time for me to run errands cos I worry shops might close by the time I knocked off. Yest, I dropped by City Hall during lunch time to collect a shirt that I have ordered the other day with Carisse while my colls took a cab to China/Capital Sq for Sushi Tei. Then, I went to packet lunch at Marina Sq. Saw Joey eating there as her office is somewhere nearby. No time to talk much as I was rushing for time, only said Hi. First time we had talked in person since tat incident. Haha... Went bk office, had my quick lunch and it's bk to work again. My workspace is so messy with loads of documents now even though my area has supposedly increased. Oh well, I have to establish my stand there bah. I'm sure there are ppl talking behind me cos there are fresh grads from foreign university who juz came in and are only assistants. Need to show them that I do have the ability of an analyst.

Alright, work aside I think I should play hard as well. Thanks for putting your things aside and coming down to look for me last nite. Your listening ear and the talk we had helped a lot. I think we could have talked till morning if not for the 2 of us needing to pee. Haha... Really appreciate it a lot. Shouldn't be much difference for me. I will only rewind back to last year, alr picking up my old habits. I guess I was lost for a moment for me to say all those things last nite. Yup, Linda shall be back in no time.

A friend in need is a friend indeed :)

Splurge on Coach bag

I bought my Coach bag yest! Decided that since I received 2 months' pay and I can't wait for Dian's sis to go US so I got the bag in good old S'pore. Now I gotta find a place to put the big box which comes with it (or rather I asked for it from the sales girl). Dunno why but I like Coach bags more than any other brands now. I love this bag to pieces, not going to regret buying it at all. Carisse and I went to the Taka branch first but they have no more new pieces. Neither is there new piece at Isetan Shaw. Didn't know it's so popular. Luckily, there are 2 more new pieces at Raffles City. I told them to reserve one and we went to pick it up in the evening. I got this white signature fabric instead of the optical design fabric afterall cos I figure it shouldn't go out of fashion even as new season comes in.

Aside from that, Carisse and I bought some working wear from the Sixties (a shop in City Link). I think their clothes are quite nice and affordable. I need to go back and collect my black shirt cos there is no new piece and I had it ordered.

I think some of my perspectives have changed after working. Certain things just don't seem as expensive as they were in the past. Oh no I must stop being such a spendthrift. Die...

Chilling out at Esplanade. My heels were killing me and I had to carry the big Coach box around. Carisse helped me to carry it sometimes. Thanks, gal! We shared many views with regards to work as both of us are doing Operations - Settlement.

And welcome to the working world, Jac! Congrats on ur IBM :)

Some random pics of my niece from the buffet held at my house the other day:

Ain't she cute? Haha...

Moving house

Literally, I mean. I'm moving house within the office. Haha... Gonna move to my own cubicle (I mean solely mine cos currently I share the aisle with a few others). The cubicle is gonna be same size as the other analysts and also my boss. So happy! I can finally have privacy, more space and more drawers/cabinets. The partition is also higher than usual. This means that no one can see me slacking. Haha kidding lah... Think got no time to slack alr. With it comes more responsibility. Starting next Monday, I'm going to process trades for both US and Asia bonds (I was previously in charge of US only). Hmmm... Given so many datelines or rather 'timelines' per day, I hope I can cope well...

Dropped by Holland V last nite for dinner with Dear. We ate at Breko. The carbonara there is still very nice. I love it! Brought him to the Ice Rock Creamary. We shared a large cup with 4 scopes (The person said we could only choose 2 flavors but gave us 4 scoops) of Cookies & Cream and Boysenberry and marshmallow & chips ahoy toppings. It tasted so good! Dear wanted to go back for it more often. Haha...

Gonna catch a movie tonite. Feel like shopping too. Shit... I think I'm addicted to shopping once again. It has become at least a weekly routine. Need to slowly kick off this habit again. I have decided to shop at the Mango in JB in future cos it is cheaper due to the exchange rate. Can't wait for Dear to finish his exams then intern at KPMG. Muahaha... I can then meet him for lunches, dinners etc. Waiting...

I love Coach!

Damn! I luv this Coach bag so much. Came across it last nite while I was shopping with Jac. I haven't gotten my first pay yet but I'm alr aiming this bag. Hehe... Isn't it nice? I like the signature-dot printed scarf. I actually like another fabric (more abstract instead of this normal C) but the official website does not show. Wanna ask Dian's sis to help me look out for it in US. It's like $150 cheaper in the US. It costs $745 here and $809 for the more abstract fabric that I had my eyes on.
Or is brown nicer? I personally prefer white. But I like this pink scarf more than green. Wonder if they will allow me to change it? Haha... OMG! I simply want a Coach bag so much...
